Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota makes for an exceptional backdrop, especially when you add to it the beautiful Noerenberg Gardens. This Senior wanted a good selection of shots and poses in a shorter sitting time. The Gardens are perfect.
The best thing about this venue is all the variety in such a short walking distance. Love it.

Sure it is important to get the shots that Mom and Dad will love, but how about the ones you will love. I get asked all the time, “how many wardrobe changes can I have during my Senior Portrait Shoot?” As Many As You Like!!! This is your year and your time. Why would you settle for limited poses? I think my Senior Portrait photographer had this rule. I hated both of my shots. Awesome.
When I shoot pics for Senior Portraits, I get a little trigger happy. I take hundreds of pictures and you get to see them all – unless your eyes were closed or something, those I drop. And how about Facebook. Why do only 4 or 5 pictures from your shoot make it to your wall? You pick ‘em and I’ll post ‘em!

This Eden Prairie Senior had no problem being himself and his pictures turned out awesome. He was spot on with is plan to look like he always looks. “I don’t want people to look in the yearbook and wonder what I was doing. I always dress this way, it’s perfect.” He was absolutely right. Noerenberg Gardens is one of my favorite places on Lake Minnetonka for Senior Portraits. Three Rivers Park District does an amazing job maintaining this little park, as they do with all, and there is just about everything you could want for backgrounds in a perfect setting.
From countless flowers to mature and well-kept trees. Shoreline to boathouse. Arbors to fields. This park has it all.One hour of shooting time will yield more portraits than you can possible look through in one sitting.

Early morning photo shoot posted above. We started on West River Parkway, hit the Bluffs and some of everything else we could find along the way. From tagged walls, to old, semi-abandoned cars, there was everything you could imagine.
An hour and a half of shooting and we had tons of great photos. It is one of those places you just have to go and do, walk and explore, see what grabs your attention and shoot it. Just Perfect.

It was a perfect day for Senior Portraits. And Como Park was the perfect venue. Ari and I walked about the park and got several shots with the Conservatory as well.

I enjoy shooting on location just as much as my High School Seniors do. Living in Minnesota, however, sometimes the weather isn’t nice enough for on location photography. That said, there is something to be said for catching a few Senior Portraits in the studio. This shoot, done in studio, was a blast. We spent a good hour and half together and created several really great shoots below are some of my favs from the session.
Lots of creative avenues can be pursued when working with studio shots. The orange-walled shot was created using several Photoshop tricks.
