Being You… 

That is probably what you are absolutely best at. Right? Senior Pictures by SMHerrick Photography require you to do just that… BE. YOU. 

I was asked recently to share what it is that sets my studio, and my sessions, apart from the rest. Awesome question that I am happy go on and on about. I will try to keep it simple.

First and most importantly, the Senior Pictures Session is all about you. Not me. Yup, I have some cool props, awesome chairs, and millions of ideas. None of that makes a difference until I know what it is that you want from your session. To make sure I am on the same page with you, I have made a Senior Questionnaire. Takes about five minutes to run through and helps me align us so your session and your pics are like the one above – FUN, and the one below – Beautiful.

Another key to success, I never force poses! Again, Being You is super important. Of course I will suggest poses, settings, backgrounds, and the like. But, if it is not your style, cool, let’s move on and get the shots that about you. 

Most Senior Pictures Sessions are done on location. This is another important detail when heading out to get your pics done. I like the Cities, a lot. I am architecture junky and if I can some incorporate a building or street musician into any shot, I will. But that’s me. What do you like? City? Cool. Lake, river, or pond? Awesome. Field, trees, flowers, or skate-park? Outstanding. Get the idea? I cool with whatever makes you feel connected to the setting. If you hate the city, why would we shoot there. If the smell of dead fish is something you would like to avoid, I know of some very clean lakes and rivers we can shoot at – no sense going to the old-algae-filled-pond. 

Finally, finishing the pics. This is huge. I have many years of Adobe (Photoshop) experience as well as some certificates, or awards from Adobe around the studio somewhere. What does that mean to you? I am an image-editing-guru. Classically trained in the darkroom, well-studied in the latest and greatest software.
